About Our Program

At STH Goldens, our puppies are raised in our home and become part of our family before joining yours! We closely follow the guidelines and philosophies of Avidog – a program developed by Dr. Gayle Watkins. It combines science, art, and over 40 years of breeding experience to create, develop, and present puppy rearing courses, programs, and equipment for puppy owners and dog breeders. Dr. Watkins is a well-known and respected breeder of multi-purpose Golden Retrievers.

We firmly believe that early brain development can be enhanced by the way a puppy is raised! That's why we start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) on day 3 of each puppy’s life and continue through day 16. ENS can boost the puppy's immune system, improve their problem-solving skills, and enable them to better handle stress.

The olfactory system in dogs is simply amazing! They can have up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their nose making smell their strongest sense. A few of the things they can smell that humans cannot are cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, ovulation, and emotions. ESI has been shown to enrich a puppy's adult scenting abilities. Why not take advantage of this critical time in a puppy’s life to enhance their abilities in adulthood?

Your puppy will come home to you well socialized and well on his or her way to being potty trained & housebroken! But most of all, they will come to you well-loved. We want to be a resource for our STH Golden families and hear all about our puppies as they grow and become an important part of your family!!
